CD Track 2: The story - Little Red Riding Hood was written in Germany by the Brothers Grimm in 1857.
You will hear about a young girl – “Little Red Riding Hood”, and her grandmother, and about a Big Bad Wolf. You will hear all about trickery and danger. This is one of the best known fairy tales, but how will it end?
Jack and the Beanstalk
CD Track 3: An introduction to the story with background music from Mendelssohn's Italian Symphony, Fourth Movement
CD Track 4: The story - In this story, you will hear about a young boy and his widowed mother, and about a huge beanstalk! You’ll hear about a fierce giant who lived in a big castle, and about a hen that laid golden eggs. When you first meet Jack, he seems to be lazy and maybe not too smart; however, he is soon involved in some scary and exciting adventures!
Rapunzel
CD Track 5: An introduction to the story with background music from Tchaikovsky's Baba Yaga
CD Track 6: The story - Rapunzel was written in Germany by the Brothers Grimm in 1812. You will hear about a man and his wife who lived next to a garden that was owned by a witch. You will hear how the man’s wife wanted some of the vegetables called “rapunzel” that grew in the garden, and what happened to their new child after the man made a terrible bargain with the witch.
The Three Little Pigs
CD Track 7: An introduction to the story with background music from Hummel's Rondo
CD Track 8: The story - In this story, you will hear about a mother pig who sends her three little pigs out into the world, and how they each build a house that they think is strong enough to protect them. You’ll hear about a big bad wolf who wants to eat the little pigs. If you want your house to protect you, it had better be really strong, as you’ll find out when you hear the story.
The Ugly Duckling
CD Track 9: An introduction to the storywith background music from Von Webber's Rondo
CD Track 10: The story - The Ugly Duckling was written in Denmark by Hans Christian Anderson in 1843. You will hear about a mother duck who hatches her eggs and sees that one duckling is much bigger and uglier than all the others in her brood. You will hear how hard life is for this ugly duckling who just can’t fit in with the other ducklings because he is so different. By end of the story you’ll hear why the ugly duckling was so different when he was young.
